Description

This training will focus on the social and physiological determinants of substance abuse and dependence. Historical perspectives, current brain and neuroscience research will be discussed to assist with genetic factors that can trigger addictive responses. An overview of the stages of use will be discussed and how that relates to the field of prevention.

Course objectives:

• Understand the history of drug abuse

• Understand the physiological determinants of substance abuse and dependence

• Understand current brain and neuroscience research and genetic predispositions
